International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the appointments ofRichard Illingworth and Marais Erasmus as field umpires for the ICC One DayWorld Cup matches between Pakistan and India.
According to Indian media, the ICC has made the announcement of umpires andreferees for the initial matches of the World Cup. On October 6, thenational team will play their first match against the Netherlands, in whichChris Brown and Adrian Holdstock will be field umpires.
In the Pakistan vs. Australia match, Richard Illingworth and Chris Brownwill be field umpires, while Paul Reiffel, Rod Tucker, and Chris Gaffaneyare part of the official team for the Afghanistan match. Chris Gaffaney andAlex Wharf will be field umpires in the Pakistan vs. Sri Lanka match.
According to the ICC, for the Pakistan vs. England match, Indian umpireJavagal Srinath will be the match referee, while Paul Wilson and Rod Tuckerwill be match referees for Pakistan. Pakistan’s Ahsan Raza will be part ofthe official team for 12 World Cup matches.
On October 14, in the Pakistan vs. India High Voltage match to be played inAhmedabad, Richard Illingworth and Marais Erasmus will be field umpires,while Richard Kettleborough will take charge as TV umpire.
It should be noted that Marais Erasmus was also appointed as the fieldumpire for the Pakistan vs. India match in the T20 World Cup played inAustralia last year. In the second innings, a controversial decision wasmade on the signal of Indian batsman Virat Kohli regarding the umpire’sdecision on no-ball.
