ISLAMABAD – Minister for Finance, Revenue, and Economic Affairs Asad Umarsays China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project will play an important rolein taking Pakistan’s economy forward as well as cementing the bilateralrelationship.
Talking to Chinese Ambassador Yao Jing in Islamabad today, he expressed hisdesire to further enhance bilateral cooperation in various fields.
On the occasion, the Chinese Ambassador extended his felicitations to theMinister on assuming his new responsibilities and expressed his good wishesfor the new government.
He said he looked forward to work closely with the Ministry of Finance witha view to further increase the economic cooperation between the twocountries.
Meanwhile, Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan Nawaf Bin Said Al Malki also calledon Minister for Finance, Revenue, and Economic Affairs Asad Umar inIslamabad today.
The Ambassador extended his felicitations to the Minister on assuming hisnew responsibilities and conveyed the best wishes and full support fromKing Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
He said the relations between the two countries are rooted in history andwill further strengthen in days to come.
The Minister thanked the Ambassador and said Ministry of Finance willcontinue to support his efforts for further strengthening brotherlyrelations between the two countries.
Minister for Finance, Revenue and Economic Affairs Asad Umar chaired ameeting in Islamabad today to review the working of the Economic AffairsDivision.
The Minister was given detailed briefing on various aspects of economiccooperation with various bilateral and multilateral development partners.
The briefing included financial progress of different foreign fundedprojects as well as certain aspects of potential projects to be included inthe pipeline in future. The Minister was also briefed on the debtmanagement function of EAD.
On the occasion, Asad Umar said assessment of requirement of foreignassistance is an important function and EAD should regularly update itsassessment of various sectors in order to utilize the valuable resources inthe most productive manner.
