LONDON – Three young Pakistanis received the prestigious Queen YoungLeaders award for superb community service at a ceremony held in Britain’scapital, London.
The awards are given to individuals who have the potential to become theleaders of tomorrow from across Asia, Africa, Europe and the Americas.
This year Haroon Yasin, Hassan Mujtaba Zaidi and Mahnoor Syed from Pakistanreceived the award in the ceremony held by Queen Elizabeth. The royalcouple, Prince Harry and his wife Megan Markle were amongst those whogreeted the winners.
*Hassan Mujtaba*
Hassan Mujtaba received the award for the work he has done in educatingunderprivileged children through ‘Discovering New Artistslink> (DNA), his exclusivenon-profit organisation that he set up in 2011. He uses art to help educatemarginalized young people in Pakistan.
*Mahnoor Syed*
Mahnoor Syed, on the other hand, began her own organisation Spread the Wordlink> when shecollaborated with numerous other schools to help hold extracurricularworkshops for students suffering from issues like bullying, child abuse aswell as physical distress. Apart from this she also joined hands with theKhawajasira Support Program to help fight for the rights of transgender.
