KABUL – Senior Afghan National Army (ANA) Commander lost his life amidongoing heavy clashes in the southern and eastern parts of the country.
The 203rd Thunder Corps of the Afghan Military in the Southeast said thecommander of the Intelligence Kandak of the Thunder Corps Gen. MohamamdYaseen Aryan has embraced martyrdom, Khaama Press has reported.
The Thunder Corps did not disclose further information regarding thecircumstance surrounding the death of Gen. Aryan.
This comes as heavy clashes are underway in certain provinces in the Southand East of the country.
The 203rd Thunder Corps said Monday that the Afghan armed forces conductedair and artillery strikes on Zewalat, Tapa Tesha, Warsak, Kharoti, Mashqovillage, and Haji Nemat areas in the central parts of the province.
The source further added that at least 27 militants were killed and atleast 22 others sustained injuries during the operations.
A Taliban commander identified as Mullah Shafiqullah was among those killedwhile another Taliban commander Qari Zarif was wounded, the Thunder Corpsadded.
