BEIJING: China-Pakistan Economic Corridor has provided a platform for long-term cooperation between Pakistan and China.

This was stated by Chinese Foreign Ministry’s Spokesperson Geng Shuang during his regular press briefing in Beijing.

He said the corridor will not only foster common growth of the two countries but also bring development and prosperity to other countries in the region through interconnectivity. The spokesperson said CPEC is neither directed at any third party nor it has anything to do with territorial sovereignty disputes.

Regarding recent visit of Chinese Foreign Minister to Pakistan and Afghanistan, he said it produced positive results.

He said both the countries showed goodwill to each other and agreed to establish a crisis control mechanism. Geng Shuang said the Chinese Foreign Minister had candid and in-depth discussion with leaders of the two countries and they reached consensus, jointly issuing a five-point press communique.
