KARACHI: (APP) Pakistan Coast Guards (PCG), has made tremendous achievements during last one year, that is since June 2015,as huge quantities of drugs and liquors have been seized and the contraband items would be destroyed this year.
Every year, June 26 is observed as international day for drugs abuse throughout the world accordingly, drug destruction burning ceremony is also held here on the occasion.
However, due to Ramazan this ceremony will now be held on October 15, 2016.
This year, the PCG has seized the drug include 12 kilograms Heroin, 2851.45 kilograms Hashish, 443.5 kilograms Opium, 8698 bottles of liquor and 3550 tins of beer.
As many as 23 narcotics smugglers / drug traffickers have been arrested and legal formalities are under process in relevant courts of law.
In addition nine vehicles and two boats were also confiscated being drug carriers. The PCG stands committed in its resolve to make all possible efforts to curb the menace of smuggling of narcotics/liquors in its area of responsibility, considering it as national obligation.
