ISLAMABAD, June 27 (APP): Pak Railways: Drastic cut in Eid Train Fares
A vast section of society has welcomed Pakistan Railways’ decision of reducing train fares by 58 percent during the holy month of Ramzan and two days of Eid.
To provide better facilities to passengers, the decision has been taken on the directives of Minister for Railways, Khawaja Saad Rafique.
Pakistan Railways has enhanced the fares twice recently.
In Ramzan the fares were enhanced from 10-25 percent and additional 33 percent have been enhanced in Eid-ul-Fitr.
Rizwan Ali, a passenger at Rawalpindi Railway Station, said “this step of the Railways Ministry will help increase number of passengers as people love to travel through trains.”
However, he said, more steps are required from the Ministry and management of Railways to make sure that trains leave and arrive on time.
Another passenger Saeed Ahmed said that rail was the cheapest and safest mode of traveling but it had persistently been ignored by the previous government in the last many years.
“We have noted that many positive steps have been taken since the PML-N government came into power to attract maximum passengers,” he added.
A family traveling to Lahore, said train was the best source of journey with children and reduction of fare would help Pakistan Railways to earn more money along with facilitating the passengers.
