ISLAMABAD – The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Monday did not just become thefirst Supreme Court of the world to have an e-court hearing, it also saved25 lacs to the national exchequer.The apex court heard four cases via video link from the Karachi registry.
The chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Asif Saeed Khosa, congratulated thelawyers who were present in Karachi registry. He also said that a newchapter of history was beginning, in which immediate and low-cost justicewould be provided as per constitutional responsibilities.
Hearing the first case, the honorable bench granted bail to murder accusedNoor Mohammad and took notice on the Sindh High Court delaying its baildecision.
The apex court also instructed that a decision by Sindh High CourtHyderabad be sent to the Supreme Judicial Council.
Hearing another murder case, the bench granted bail before arrest to HafeezAhmed, Amjad Ali and Irfan Ahmed.
Lawyers present at the court termed today ‘historic’.
