ISLAMABAD – The fake news of former Sri Lanka cricketer Sanath Jayasuriya’sdeath was circulated on social Media.
A ‘news report’ shared by many on social media said that Jayasuriya haddied in an accident while he was on a visit to Canada recently.
The news was not true and Jayasuriya himself clarifying that he is aliveand well in Sri Lanka and did not visit Canada recently.
A fake news report stated that Jayasuriya died in an accident while he wason a visit to Canada recently. “A man was hit by a Honda Civic car who diedin the hospital and he has been identified as Sanath Jayasuriya,” thereport stated.
“He was severely injured when taken to the hospital and while being treatedhe passed away the next morning.” It even said that the report wasconfirmed by the Sri Lankan Embassy in Canada, and mentioned that theembassy was aware of Jayasuriya’s visit to Toronto.
