ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) Thursday directed the Pakistan Electronic Media and Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) to give guidelines for TV channels transmission during the holy month of Ramazan by May 3.
The court also directed PEMRA to issue reminders to all the local TV channels for following the guidelines to respect the holy month.
Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui of IHC heard the petition filed against the transmission of objectionable material on TV channels during Ramazan.
During the course of proceeding, Chairman PEMRA Absar Alam and Secretary Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Ahmad Nawaz Sukhera appeared before the bench.
Absar Aalam apprised the court that the department had cancelled the license of Jalwa TV for airing objectionable material.
The court also directed Secretary Information to submit report after monitoring all TV programmes before arrival of Ramazan. (APP)
