*KARACHI: *Alibaba Group, the Chinese e-commerce behemoth wants Pakistaniexporters to get listed on its business-to-business (B2B) electronicportal, said a company executive on Monday.
The company’s Country Manager Jason Jia on Monday while speaking at aroadshow arranged for Karachi-based businessman said a Pakistan pavilionhad been launched on its website for exhibiting their indigenous productlistings, reported *The News.*
Jia said they want to work in conjunction with local businessman tointroduce Pakistani products to the global markets.
Presently, the platform has over 3,000 paid members and majority of themare based in Lahore, Faisalabad and Sialkot. Textile, sports goods andsurgical instruments constitute the top categories.
Before the launch of Pakistan pavilion, Alibaba’s website has over 250,000registered members from the country. The company charges $1,500 yearly assubscription charges from featured suppliers on its website.
The company has also signed up five domestic partners which includes EBExcels, NextBridge, NJ Dynamic Solutions, Trademor and AlpharexInternational to give sales and support services to member companies.
