ISLAMABAD – The Director General South Asia & SAARC Dr. Mohammad Faisal,summoned the Indian Acting High Commissioner Gaurav Ahluwalia and condemnedthe unprovoked ceasefire violations by the Indian occupation forces alongthe Line of Control yesterday in Nikial and Khuiratta Sectors whichresulted in the shahadats of four innocent civilians while injuring sixothers.
The Director General urged the Indian side to respect the 2003 Ceasefirearrangement; investigate this and other incidents of ceasefire violationsand instruct its Indian forces to respect the ceasefire, in letter andspirit and maintain peace on the LoC and the Working Boundary.
He also urged that the Indian side should permit UNMOGIP to play itsmandated role as per the UN Security Council resolutions.
The deliberate targeting of civilian populated areas is indeed deplorableand contrary to human dignity, international human rights and humanitarianlaws. The ceasefire violations by India are a threat to regional peace andsecurity and may lead to a strategic miscalculation.
