SRINAGAR – In occupied Kashmir, the Joint Resistance Leadership comprisingSyed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik organized apeaceful demonstration in Srinagar, today (Tuesday) to condemn India’srevengeful policies against the Kashmiri political prisoners languishing indifferent jails.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the demonstration held outside theJamia Masjid in Srinagar was led by Muhammad Yasin Malik and wasparticipated by a large number of Hurriyat leaders and activists. Theparticipants carried placards and banners urging India and its puppetauthorities to stop victimizing the Kashmiri prisoners.
Syed Ali Gilani and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq addressing the demonstrators overtelephone said that the oppressive tactics unleashed by New Delhi could notprevent the Kashmiris from carrying forward their freedom struggle.
Meanwhile, Syed Ali Gilani addressed an international seminar on Kashmir atthe National University of Modern Languages in Islamabad through video linkfrom Srinagar today and said that at the time of partition Jammu andKashmir had to become the part of Pakistan but India illegally occupied theterritory.
Thousands of people attended the funeral prayers of two martyred youth inPulwama and Bandipora districts, today, amid high-pitched anti-India andpro-freedom slogans. A youth, Mushtaq Ahmad was martyred by the Indianpolice during custody inside Tral police station in Pulwama yesterday.
On the other hand, Indian troops conducted search operations in Chhatabal,Soura, Aharbal, Khaag and Charar-e-Sharief areas of Srinagar and Badgamdistricts. Besides subjecting residents to inhuman treatment, the troopsarrested a youth.
