ISLAMABAD – Pakistan will ban 26/11 attacks mastermind Hafiz Saeed’sJamaat-ud-Dawa and Falah-e-Insaniat Foundation in compliance with UNresolutions, its interior minister Ahsan Iqbal said.
Iqbal’s comments come days after Pakistan’s president signed an ordinancethat brought all individuals and organisations banned by the UN SecurityCouncil (UNSC) under the ambit of the country’s stringent Anti-TerrorismAct.
The move will enable Islamabad to take action against groups andindividuals banned by the UNSC – that includes sealing their offices andfreezing their bank accounts.
Pakistan’s law ministry notified this amendment on February 12.
The report also said both the JuD and the FIF had been proscribed inFebruary by the government of the Pakistani province of Punjab.
