PCB takes strong exception of ICC decision of suspending Pakistani Skipper Sarfraz Ahmed

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Cricket Board has taken a strong exception over thedecision of International Cricket Council of suspending Pakistani SkipperSarfraz Ahmed.

PCB expressed disappointment over the decision of International CricketCouncil of banning captain Sarfraz Ahmed for four matches for his racialremarks.

PCB believes that the matter was resolved between the two players and alsotheir boards respectively following his public apology on social media forhis comments.

“The PCB notes the ICC decision on Sarfaraz Ahmed with its utmostdisappointment. PCB had anticipated that the matter had been resolvedamicably between the two players and the two Boards following SarafrazAhmed’s public apologies which were accepted by the player, the Board andSouth Africa cricket team,” the official statement from the board read.

The board plans to take the matter to the ICC and will ask the authoritiesto bring reforms to the Code of Anti-Racism. However, they back ICC’sstance of zero tolerance policy on the offence.

“The PCB will be pursuing this matter at the ICC forums with the objectiveto bring reforms to the Code, promoting amicable resolutions to issues asopposed to penalties. Having said that, the PCB reiterates itszero-tolerance approach towards racist comments and behaviour,” thestatement said.
