Foundation stone laid for 200 million knowledge city in Pakistan, first ever in County s history

MIANWALI – Prime Minister Imran Khan Sunday inaugurated the first academicblock of the NAMAL Knowledge City.The vision behind Namal Knowledge City is to create a hub of knowledgeexchange and research in Mianwali.

The Knowledge City will include academic blocks, a knowledge center, asports complex, sports grounds, a hospital, technology parks, businesscenters, shopping malls, a dairy farm, a resort, software houses, hotels, aprimary school, and a housing colony for the faculty.A total of US$ 200 million will be spent on the construction of theKnowledge City which will be built on the concept of a zero carbon footprint and completed by the year 2027.It will have a population of 11,000 with construction spread over 4 millionsquare feet. It will accommodate 7,000 students with 600 faculty members.The Namal is the only rural sector university in Pakistan where around 97percent of students are on financial aid and 20 percent of graduates of2018 acquired first class honours.Around 1,000 acres of land is owned by the university where students from55 districts of Pakistan are studying. With a teacher-student ratio of1:10, the university has 32 faculty members, including 19 PhD facultymembers.
