The Lahore High Court (LHC) expressed dissatisfaction with the detention of former interior minister Sheikh Rashid and issued a final ultimatum to authorities, demanding his recovery by October 2.

Justice Sadaqat Ali Khan, presiding over the Rawalpindi bench of the LHC, rebuked Regional Police Officer (RPO) Syed Khurram Ali for the failure to locate the veteran politician and inquired about progress in the case. Rashid, who was detained at his residence on the outskirts of Islamabad on September 17 by purported Rawalpindi Police personnel, remains missing.

His counsel informed the court that the police had been pressuring them to issue a statement on Rashid's behalf, claiming he left voluntarily and was not arrested. CCTV footage and witnesses support the arrest claims.

The court directed the RPO to provide an affidavit confirming that the detained individuals, including Sheikh Rashid, are not in police custody. If they are not recovered by October 2, strict action will be taken against the authorities.

The court also considered the situation of Sheikh Rashid's nephew and employee, emphasizing that they are not involved in politics and should not be targeted.

Justice Sadaqat issued a final warning to authorities to recover Rashid and others by October 2, warning of strict action if the deadline is not met.
