LAHORE -In a surprise, Chaudhry Shujaat speaks strongly in favour of former close friend Nawaz Sharif. Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) president Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain said on Saturday that Prime Minister Imran Khan should use his discretionary powers to let Nawaz Sharif go abroad for medical treatment.
The veteran politician said that former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif should be given all medical facilities. He also pointed out that there is difference between judicial decisions and executive decisions.
"Nawaz Sharif has not been accused of being an enemy of the country, he has just been accused of financial impropriety," the politician from Gujrat said, adding that in such matters, the courts should not be put through a testing period, the judiciary should not be involved in these matters, they could end with dangerous results.
Chaudhry Shujaat's remarks have come at a time of political upheavel, as former premier and PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif had been admitted in hospital earlier this week after a dramatic fall in platelet counts.
Since then, his health has been a matter of much speculation, with media outlets reporting on Saturday afternoon that Nawaz Sharif had suffered either a heart attack or an episode of engina pains.
