ISLAMABAD - Ten Pakistani universities have been ranked among the top universities in the world in the Times Higher Education (THE)’s list. THE is a weekly UK-based magazine that issues its annual list of world’s most influential universities.
The list called ‘University Impact Rankings 2019’ has included 10 Pakistani varsities in different categories, including Gender Equality, Good Health and Well-being, Quality Education, Decent Work, Economic Growth, and others.
According to the magazine, the rankings assess universities against the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
We use carefully calibrated indicators to provide comprehensive and balanced comparisons across three broad areas: research, outreach, and stewardship.
Here is the list of Pakistani varsities that made it to the University Impact Rankings 2019.
1. NED University
(overall ranking 101-200)
This year’s THE Impact Rankings has listed NED University of Engineering and Technology 5th in the category of ‘Gender Equality.’ The varsity’s overall ranking is 100-200. 2. The University of Agriculture Faisalabad
(overall ranking 201-300)
The University of Agriculture, Faisalabad has been ranked 3rd in the category of ‘Good Health and Well-being for People’ and 13th in ‘Climate Action.’ 3. Ghulam Ishaq Khan University
(overall ranking 201-300)
Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology is 4th in the category of ‘Quality Education,’ and 9th in ‘Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure.’ 4. The University of Veterinary Lahore
(overall ranking 201-300)
Lahore’s University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences has been placed 3rd in the category of ‘Good Health and Well-being for People’ and 10th in ‘Reducing Inequalities.’ 5. COMSATS University Islamabad
(overall ranking 301+)
The Islamabad campus of COMSATS University is also on the 3rd spot in the category of ‘Good Health and Well-being for People’ while the varsity is ranked 8th in ‘Decent Work and Economic Growth.’ 6. Government College University Lahore
(overall ranking 301+)
Government College University Lahore is 5th in the category of ‘Gender Equality,’ and 10th in ‘Reducing Inequalities.’ 7. International Islamic University Islamabad
(overall ranking 301+)
The International Islamic University, Islamabad, has also secured 5th place in the category of ‘Gender Equality,’ and 11th in ‘Sustainable Cities and Communities.’ 8. NUST Islamabad
(overall ranking 301+)
National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Islamabad has stood 4th in the field of ‘Quality Education,’ 5th in ‘Gender Equality,’ and 9th in the ‘Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure.’ 9. The University of Peshawar
(overall ranking 301+)
The University of Peshawar is 3rd in the category of ‘Good Health and Well-being for People’ while 11th in ‘Sustainable Cities and Communities.’ 10. Quaid-i-Azam University
(overall ranking 301+)
One of the top universities of Pakistan, the Quaid-i-Azam University, is 5th in the category of ‘Gender Equality,’ and 10th in ‘Reducing Inequalities.’
