Child mortality rate in Tharparkar is lesser than other parts of country: Officials

MITHI: The District Health Officer of Tharparkar Dr. Sahfiq-ur-Reheman has claimed that the child mortality rate of Tharparkar is less as compared to the mortality rate in other parts of the country.

He maintained that mortality rate of new born babies is 46 out of one thousand across country while in Tharparkar the ratio is 20 percent.

He expressed these views in a statement issued here on Thursday.

He said population of Tharparkar is over 1.6 million, adding that proper health facilities are available in all the hospitals throughout the district. He said the facilities would be further improved.

He said four child expert doctors are performing their duties in Mithi Civil Hospital and all facilities for children care are also available.

Dr.Shafiq further said that 7 basic health centers were upgraded. He pointed out that 1063 vacancies of lady health workers have been approved.

He also said that area hardship allowances were being given to the doctors.
