LAYYAH – Prime Minister Imran Khan launched on Wednesday universal health coverage through Insaf Health Card for the people of Dera Ghazi Khan and Sahiwal Divisions.
Addressing the ceremony in Layyah, he said all families of these divisions will be able to get medical treatment up to Rs720,000 from government as well as designated private hospitals through the health scheme.
He said that the government to provide an additional amount of 300,000 to the holders of the card, if necessary, to complete the treatment.
The premier appreciated the Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governments for providing universal health coverage to all his citizens, adding that the initiative will also boost the health system of Pakistan.
The government will help private sector in establishing hospitals at far flung areas of the country, he said, adding that the interested persons will be given state land to build hospitals besides duty tax exemption on import of medical equipment.
He further said that development in backward areas would lessen burden on big cities, which are facing challenges related to civic amenities due to growing population.
Regarding recent incident of barbarism by dacoits in the area, the premier vowed to take massive operations against these lawbreakers. He said police and Rangers will be directed to eliminate these dacoits to provide protection to the people.
