ISLAMABAD: Former Pakistan Ambassador to United States Hussain Haqqani revelations have opened a new pendora box in the country that has stirred many controversies in Pakistan.
It has been revealed that Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) government in its tenure issued visas to more than 52 thousand Americans in three years, reported Dunya News on Sunday.
These facts have been disclosed by the documents that are submitted by former foreign minister Hina Rabbani Khar in senate when she was questioned about issuance of visas.
As per details, Husain Haqqani issued the visas as ambassador on approval of president and prime minister’s secretariat.
The submitted documents unearthed that 52 thousand and 94 US citizens were issued Pakistani visas from 2008 to 2011 out of which 13 thousand were Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) agents.
According to facts and figure, 52 thousand visas were not even issued in past ten years before the tenure of PPP.
The most surprising thing in the case is that out of total visas, only 2200 were approved by defence attaché.
