ECP takes important decision over Pakistan Army deployment in General Elections

ISLAMABAD – The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has approved the deployment of Pak Army in the general elections 2018.

The Pak Army jawans will be deployed in and out of the polling stations.

A summary in this regard has been sent to the Defence Ministry. According to the summary, sufficient number of Pak Army troops should be appointed to conduct the elections peacefully.

The ECP said that troops should be deployed at the polling stations from July 23 to 26.

It also suggested that ballot papers should be printed at the polling stations under the supervision of Pak Army and troops should be deployed at the printing presses from June 27 to July 25.

The ECP has decided that to deploy the Pak Army under Article 220 and 245.

Moreover, foolproof security arrangements will be made at the polling stations.

On the other hand, PTI leader Fawad Ch has sent a letter to the ECP for increasing the polling time.
