LAHORE: Punjab Apex Committee in its last meeting had summoned Punjab Rangers in the province to help civil administration eradicate menace of terrorism.
The review meeting has been summoned by Punjab CM Shehbaz Sharif in less than a week.
Chief Minister of Punjab, Shehbaz Sharif has summoned a meeting of apex committee on Sunday and to deliberate over allowing cricket authority to conduct final match of Pakistan Super League 2017 in the provincial capital.
The meeting to be convened today will review progress made under Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad as well as implementation of National Action Plan.
It is likely that the apex committee will adopt an official stand tomorrow in the meeting over either having PSL final played in Lahore or Dubai. Corps Commanders Lahore, GOC and other high-level officials will participate in the meeting which is going to be presided over by CM Shehbaz Sharif.
Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad was launched by Pakistan Army earlier this month after a fresh wave of terrorism hit parts of country including major cities like Lahore, Peshawar and Quetta.
A suicide blast at shrine of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar in Sehwan Sharif claimed 88 lives and left over 200 wounded and before that a suicide bomber targeted a protest outside Punjab Assembly on Mall Road claiming 14 lives.
Chief of the Army Staff, General Qamar Javed Bajwa chaired a meeting last week which decided to launch Radd-ul-Fasaad that entails deployment of Pakistan Rangers in Punjab to eliminate the ‘residue’ of terrorism left.
