ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed to finalized the policyon renewable energy by end of January.
He was chairing a meeting of Cabinet Committee on Energy in Islamabad onWednesday.
He underscored the need for improved coordination among the relevantdepartments and addressing governance issues in the energy sector.
He emphasized upon the need for timely and accurate estimations aboutdemand and supply in the energy sector so as to avoid any interruption inenergy supply.
The Prime Minister was briefed about demand and supply situation in thepower sector, the projections of petroleum and power division for the nextsix months, the existing energy mix, availability and utilization ofindigenous.
The Prime Minister was also briefed about gas management plans of SuiNorthern Gas Pipelines Limited and Sui Southern Gas Company for the winterseason.
The meeting decided to immediately notify ban on any further import offurnace oil.
The Prime Minister directed that a detailed plan, in consultation withrefineries, regarding up gradation of existing facilities and export ofsurplus furnace oil should be worked out on priority.
