ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Imran Khan has underscored the importance of aneffective counter narrative and concerted efforts to combat Islamophobia.
He was talking to Saudi Prince Sultan Bin Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud whocalled on him in Islamabad on Tuesday.
The Prime Minister also stressed for greater engagement of the youth inthis process and enhancing their pride in the history as well asachievements of Islamic civilization.
Imran Khan said relations between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan are unique andbased on shared religion, culture and history.
He lauded the progress made by Saudi Arabia under the wise leadership ofKing Salman Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman.
The Prime Minister also expressed gratitude for Saudi Arabia’s economicsupport to Pakistan and the initiatives underway to build a strongereconomic partnership between the two countries.
Imran Khan highlighted the tourism and economic potential of Pakistan andnoted the macro-economic improvements achieved by the government includingthe current account surplus.
The Prime Minister apprised the Saudi Prince about the gross human rightsviolations by India in Occupied Kashmir especially the inhuman lockdown ofover eight million people for more than one hundred days.
He said the international community should stand with the innocentKashmiris in their just struggle.
Speaking on the occasion, Prince Sultan bin Salman Al Saud highlighted theclose affinity between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan and deeply appreciated therole played by Pakistani professionals especially doctors and engineers inthe progress and development of Saudi Arabia.
He underscored the need for Islamic Ummah to better understand its culturaland religious heritage and to project it to remove misperceptions aboutIslam.
