ISLAMABAD: Federal Cabinet has approved new summary for the extension inthe Army Chief’s tenure and sent it to President for approval.
Briefing the newsmen on the Federal Cabinet meeting in Islamabad today,Minister for Education, Shafqat Mahmood said the Cabinet reviewed thesituation after the verdict of the Supreme Court regarding extension in theservice of Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa.
He said the Cabinet approved amendment in the Rule 255 of Army regulationto assist the court.
He said the Federal Cabinet and its allied parties have expressed completesupport for extension in service of Army Chief.

The Minister for Education said under article 243, it is Prime Minister’sprerogative to appoint services chiefs.
Shafqat Mahmood said Prime Minister has the prerogative to send advice tothe President on the extension in service of the Chief of Army Staff andthe Prime Minister gave advice to the President under the same prerogativeand President gave the approval of extension.
