PM Imran Khan approves social protection framework

ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Imran Khan has approved a social protectionframework for vulnerable segments of society.

He gave the approval while chairing a meeting of Economic Advisory Councilin Islamabad.

The comprehensive social protection framework is aimed at overcoming thechallenges of poverty, health, stunted growth, education.

It would enable the youth realize their potential and extricate themselvesout of the generational poverty traps.

The Prime Minister also approved the policy recommendations for amedium-term structural reform framework of the economy.

Minister for Finance Asad Umar, Minister for Planning Makhdoom KhusroBakhtiar, Adviser to Prime Minister Dr. Ishrat Hussain, and other seniorofficials attended the meeting.

The meeting was briefed on policy recommendations for mobilizing financefor development, enhancing exports and strengthening SMEs, tax reforms, jobcreation impact of major policy actions and social protection priorities,in the light of the deliberated proposals of the working groups of EconomicAdvisory Council.

Policy recommendations were finalized to focus on acceleration ofunderutilized areas.

Finalization of these policies is aimed at laying the foundation of asustainable, inclusive, job creating and export oriented economic growthstrategy as part of the Government’s 100 Days Plan.
