Major developments in IHC over Imran Khan s cipher case

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) announced that the upcoming hearing forImran Khan’s bail plea in the cipher case will be held publicly, as orderedby IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq.

This decision came in response to the prosecution’s request forconfidential proceedings. In a separate session, the IHC invalidated theauthorities’ notification to detain the PTI chairman in Attock jail.

Additionally, IHC Chief Justice Aamir Farooq granted the request torelocate Khan to Adiala jail, citing his three-year sentence in theToshakhana case.

In another development, a special court extended the judicial remand ofImran Khan and PTI’s Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi until October 10 inthe cipher case, which involves a classified state document. During thehearing, the court instructed the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) topromptly submit a challan in the case.

This hearing took place at the Attock Jail with the approval of the LawMinistry, addressing security concerns raised by the Interior Ministry.Notably, Imran Khan was incarcerated on August 5 following his convictionin the Toshakhana case, but on August 29, the IHC temporarily suspended hissentence.
