Caretaker Interior Minister Sarfaraz Bugti, on Tuesday, clarified that hiscomments regarding Nawaz Sharif’s arrival had been misconstrued afterPakistan Muslim League Nawaz reacted strongly.
In a TV interview on Monday, Bugti had mentioned that a significant policepresence at the airport was unnecessary for an arrest and referred to theairport as a sensitive location where large crowds wouldn’t be allowed.
However, on Tuesday, he explained that his remarks were taken out ofcontext and assured that Nawaz would be treated in accordance with the law.
He also expressed positivity about Nawaz’s return to politics, noting thedesire of many of his party members to welcome him.

In response to Bugti’s statements on Monday, Rana Sanaullah asserted thatthe decision regarding Nawaz’s reception, whether arrest or welcome, shouldbe made by the public, not the government.
Sanaullah criticized Bugti for going “beyond limits” with his statement andsuggested that the interior minister should learn from Sheikh Rasheed’sexperiences.
