The Pakistan Super League (PSL) Governing Council convened in Lahore, addressing several key issues. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) proposedstarting the ninth PSL edition in the UAE due to upcoming elections, butthis was unanimously rejected by all franchises.
They argued that it wouldn’t be wise to move the league out of Pakistanafter bringing it back with great effort, citing a potential PKR 800million loss. Chairman Management Committee, ZakaAshraf, suggested Qatar as an alternative.
Ultimately, it was decided to hold the league after the elections. Thepossibility of Pakistani players participating in the UAE’s ILT20 wasraised, prompting discussions about strengthening the Pakistan SuperLeague.
PCB officials promised to consider this and mentioned the development of anNOC policy in consultation with Chief Selector Inzamam ul Haq for variousleagues. The meeting also addressed the issue of surrogate advertisingduring PSL.
In the previous edition, some teams featured sponsor logos associated withgambling businesses on their shirts. Franchises requested a clear policy toprevent such situations in the future.
PCB confirmed the existence of a policy requiring documentation to prove asponsor’s lack of connection to gambling. Only companies providing suchevidence would be eligible for sponsorship, while others withoutdocumentation would be barred from the league.
