PM Imran Khan met his Norwegian counterpart, wide range of issues discussed

ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Imran Khan met his Norwegian counterpart ErnaSolberg on the sidelines of 74th Session of the UN General Assembly in NewYork.

The two leaders discussed a wide range of bilateral, regional andmultilateral issues of mutual interest.

Prime Minister Imran Khan briefed the Norwegian Prime Minister on thecurrent situation in the Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir entailing graverisks for peace and security.

The Prime Minister also highlighted belligerent statements by Indianpolitical and military figure as well as their allegations of “terrorists”seeking to cross over and stressed that these were meant to stage somefalse flag operation and further escalate the tensions.

Imran Khan underscored the need for urgent steps by the internationalcommunity to help alleviate the sufferings of the Kashmiri people subjectedto inhuman lockdown for seven weeks. He stressed that it was equallyimportant to ward off threats to peace and security and to facilitate apeaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute.

In the regional context, the two leaders exchanged views on the Afghanistanissue and underscored the importance of successful conclusion of the peaceand reconciliation process.

The Prime Minister expressed the desire to further deepen bilateral tradeand investment ties.

The two Prime Ministers also agreed that a vibrant Pakistani diaspora inNorway was a source of strength for the bilateral relationship.
