KP government launches yet another initiative for promoting tourism in the province

ISLAMABAD – Carrying forward its promise to exploit full potential oftourism in Pakistan, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government in KhyberPakhtunkhwa has moved a step forward and announced to to set up a114-kilometer (KM) long tourism corridor to connect Kalam with Dir.

The project, aimed at developing sustainable road infrastructure, will givetourists an access to eight prominent tourist resorts, located in thenorthern parts of the country.

Ministry of Tourism, Sports, Youth , Culture and Archeology KhyberPakhtunkhwa has given a principal approval for establishing the facilitywith the help of the World Bank, an official source in the ministry toldAPP here on Monday.

Giving details of the project, he said eight well-known touristdestinations included Kalam, Anakar valley, Utrore, Gabral, Kumrat, JahazBanda, Sheringal and Dir, while dozens of more attractive scenic spots alsofall in the same route.

Passing through Anakar valley, Utrore, Gabral, Kumrat and Sheringal, hesaid the 100 KM route would start from Kalam and culminate at Dir. A 14 KMlink to be established between Kumrat and Jahaz Banda would also helpstrengthen connectivity between local areas as well, he added.
