ISLAMABAD – The names of MMA Chief Fazal ur Rehman and ANP Chief AsfandyarWali Khan have surfaced for the slot of President of Pakistan as thedeadlock still persisted between the alliance parties of opposition overthe nomination of the joint presidential candidate.
A per reports, the Pakistan peoples’ Party (PPP) has refused to retract thename of its nominee for the presidential election after the PML-N expressedreservation on the name of Aitzaz Ahsan.
Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman Sunday contactedPML-N president Shehbaz Sharif and told him Asif Ali Zardari has refused totake back the name of Aitzaz Ahsan.
It is pertinent to mention here that the opposition leaders suggested totake the name for the presidential candidate from MMA and ANP. According tothe sources, the grand alliance of the opposition may be agreed on the nameof JUI-F chief Fazlur Rehman or Asfandyar Wali Khan for the candidate ofpresident.
