ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan summoned aconsultative meeting of party leaders at his Bani Gala residence onThursday, sources said, as early poll results showed the PTI leading theNational Assembly tally.
The meeting, chaired by the PTI chief, will be held at Bani Gala aroundnoon, and will decide on the party’s next course of action on governmentformation, sources close to the matter said.
Imran Khan is expected to announce an action plan later today for forming anew government, the sources added.
During the meeting, the party leaders will also be tasked with contactingthe winning independent candidates from across Punjab. The session willalso decide on an action plan against the opponents’ reaction following theelection results.linklink
The PTI looked set for victory as preliminary, unofficial election resultspoured in, but the incumbent Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) flat outrejected the pending results citing “outright rigging”.
The formal vote count has been marred by an ongoing delay which theElection Commission of Pakistan claimed was owing to the new electronicresults system suffering unexpected glitches.
