ISLAMABAD – The Election Commission has allowed the government to decide onits own for routine transfers and postings in Federal Secretariat, itsattached departments and autonomous bodies up to BPS-19, which are not inconection to officers deputed for elections. According to a notificationissued by the Election Commission today, the government will have to seekpermission from the Commission for transfers and postings in BPS-20 andabove.

Other categories in which transfers and postings have been allowed includejudges, diplomats, vice chancellors of universities, law officers, defenceforces officers, and secondment of defense forces officers against civilposts.

The Election Commission banned transfers and postings of governmentemployments in view of general elections being held on July 25.
