ISLAMABAD: The spokesperson of the Finance Ministry on Friday said the teamof International Monetary Fund (IMF) will arrive in Pakistan on April 29 tohold talks on a bailout package.
In a statement, the spokesperson said technical matters of the packagewould be discussed with the visiting team next week.
A comprehensive dialogue has also been held with the IMF recently oneconomic framework, the ministry’s spokesperson said.
Dr Khaqan Najeeb said relevant departments were completing theirpreparations for talks with the IMF. The discussion on economic reforms andoverhauling of energy sector will also be held.
The IMF team will also be briefed on Ehsas Programme initiated by thePakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-led government.
Prime Minister Imran Khan has also said the government wants to ensurecomplete transparency in all programmes, including Bait-ul-Maal so that theelement of discretion could be eliminated.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Imran Khan met International MonetaryFund (IMF) Director Christine Lagarde on the sidelines of the second Beltand Road Forum in Beijing, China.
Prime Minister’s Adviser on Finance, Hafeez Shaikh, Adviser on CommerceAbdul Razak Dawood and Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi were inattendance during the all important meeting between the PM and IMF chief.
Pakistan is expecting $6billion bailout package from the IMF.
