BIRMINGHAM – In Britain, South Asia Centre for Peace and Human Rights(SACFPHR) has organized a conference titled “Peace in South Asia and theRole of Commonwealth” in Birmingham.
Chairman of the Council Professor Nazir Ahmed Shawl addressing theconference said firing is continued at the Line of Control causing thedeath of innocent civilians.
He said, peace, security of the region and the human rights are gettingjeopardized.
Chairman of International Commission for Human Rights at the UN, BarristerAbdul Majeed Tramboo urged the need to stop violence on the ceasefire line.
Message from Chairman of Hurriyat Forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was also readout on the occasion. It said absence of any international initiative onKashmir has created an explosive situation and a potential threat forregional and global peace.
Other speakers including British MPs classifying Kashmir among sevendeadliest conflicts implored the member states of Commonwealth to addresshuman suffering in occupied Kashmir.
