LAHORE – Pakistan veteran all-rounder Muhammad Hafeez has said that thePakistan Cricket Board (PCB) must bridge communication gap with seniorplayers so that the players could decide their future.
In his media interaction at the Gaddafi stadium here on Sunday, he endorsedthe idea that the senior players should be informed properly whether theypart of team management’s future plans or not, adding that he had spoken tothe PCB top management to get clarity on his status but he did not get anyresponse and remained in the limbo for months.“It would be easier for the players if a communication policy is framed onmatters of selection or non-selection of senior players,” he observed.
To a query, he said he always stayed positive in highs and lows of hiscareer and did not allow despondency overcome him, and this approach hadhelped his career, adding that his pragmatic mind-set had enabled him tomake a comeback in the team.
Muhammad Hafeez, to a query, said he was delighted to make a comeback tothe Pakistani team, adding that he was doubly happy that he had played amatch-winning knock to help Pakistan clinch the T20 series againstBangladesh.
When asked he performed poorly on the foreign soil, the veteran all-rounderdisagreed with the observation that he performed poorly on away series,adding that he had scored most of his runs abroad as he did not play anycricket in Pakistan for the last one decade.
Muhammad Hafeez was optimistic that he would clear his bowling test to beheld later this month, adding that he had accepted the bowling ban by theECB despite reservations as he believed in.
Muhamamd Hafeez said he kept himself match-fit, waited patiently for hisre-call and did not let his thought-process go wild, adding that he wasglad his persistence had bore fruit.
On the pitch conditions, Muhamamd Hafeez expressed the hope better pitcheswould be laid in the upcoming series in the country, adding that thepitches for the first two matches of the series against Bangladesh werebelow-par although Pakistan had always produced good batting pitches.
There was a lot of work to be done with the younger players to becomematch-winners, adding that the presence of senior players in the team wasan opportunity to learn in the dressing”Shoaib Malik’s innings in the firstT20I against Bangladesh is a lesson for the youngsters on how to finish amatch,” he responded.
“I have found Haris Rauf a man of strong nerves who loves challenges,adding that Haris Rauf had played only two matches for Pakistan so far buthe never looked nervous,” Hafeez said when asked about Haris Rauf. Headvised young batsman Ahsan Ali to pay more attention to his batting as hehas good future.
