QUEENSTOWN: India defeated Bangladesh by 131 runs in the quarter final of the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup at Queenstown on Friday.
They will play arch-rivals Pakistan in the semifinal stage of the tournament on 30th January.
India, electing to bat first, made 265 in 49.2 overs with Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma scoring half centuries.
Gill scored 86 runs off 94 balls with nine boundaries to his name while Sharma made 50 from 49 deliveries after hitting six boundaries.
Skipper Prithvi Shaw scored 40 runs from 54 balls with five fours.
Qazi Onik grabbed three wickets for Bangladesh while Nayeem Hasan and Saif Hassan dismissed two wickets each in the match. Hasan Mahmud and Robiul Haque also got a wicket each.
Bangladesh, chasing 266 runs to win from 50 overs, were bowled out for 134 runs in 42.1 overs.
Pinak Ghosh scored 43 runs from 75 balls with three boundaries while Afif Hossain made 18 runs after hitting two fours.
Robiul Haque made 14 runs while Mohammad Naim and skipper Saif Hossain contributed 12 runs each for the team.
Kamlesh Nagarkoti grabbed three wickets for India while Shivam Mavi and Abhishek Sharma grabbed two wickets each for the team. Anukul Roy also dismissed one Bangladeshi batsman.
