QUETTA: The self-styled and self-claimed Islamic State (ISIS) also known with her Arabic name "Daesh" has claimed responsibility for the Police Training College Quetta attack that killed more than 62 police recruits and LEA officials.
The Islamic State (IS) militants on Tuesday claimed responsibility for the attack on a police academy in Quetta – in which masked gunmen killed at least 62 people and wounded more than 100.
“The attack was carried out by Islamic State fighters,” the group’s Amaq news agency said.
In August, the IS claimed responsibility for the attack on a gathering of mourners at a hospital in Quetta that killed 70 people – a majority of whom were lawyers.
However, that attack was also claimed by Pakistani Taliban faction Jamaatur Ahrar.
However the authenticity of the claim still needs to be verified.
Was it actual ISIS which has origin in middle east or the local splinter elements of the TTP or the Afghan Taliban disenfranchised elements who have pledged allegiance to the ISIS?
