Karachi famous food street wiped out

KARACHI - Anti encroachment drive have reached Karachi food streets.

* Burns Road – *an oldest and most popular street recognized for its *‘desi’* eateries witnessed massive demolitions on Saturday as the anti-encroachment operation entered into the Karachi’s crowded locality.

According to details, the Karachi Metropolitan Coorporation (KMC) razed numerous shops, cafes and restaurants which were famous for their signature taste in traditional cuisines.

A day earlier, makeshift food street and other encroachment were also razed on several locations including near Civic Centre and Expo Centre.

This humdinger of the anti-encroachment operation has have excellent effect all over the megalopolis as it has reduced traffic congestion.

The KMC on November 17 submitted a report to the commissioner Karachi, apprising about implementation on the directives of the Supreme Court regarding anti-encroachment operation in the city.

According to the report, as many as 2500 shops were razed at Empress Market and its adjoining Daudpota Road during the anti-encroachment drive. Similarly 480 illegal shops were demolished in the city’s Sohrab Goth Area. While 150 shops at Sarmad Shaheed Road were also bulldozed.
