EU likely to lift ban on Sea food imports from Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: European countries have decided to lift the restriction over the fish imports from Pakistan. The ban will lift over the fisheries auction hall K-1, while auction hall K-II will not be allowed. As per details, European countries will start to seafood trade with Karachi fisheries auction hall K-I and ban will be maintained on the imports from auction hall-II. Karachi harbor hall k-I will be able to export seafood worth at least USD 100 Millions annually after lifting ban. Earlier in October both the halls were suspended by the Marine Fisheries Department in order to enlist more processing plants by EU. Federal minister for Ports and Shipping had asked the Sindh government to observe the matter and complete the tasks without further delay. A letter has also been dispatched to the Sindh government in this regard. More than 1500 fishermen have been trained while at least 300 boats reconstructed in order to strengthen trade. 15 million Euros have been spent by EU to promote trade in Pakistan.
