RAWALPINDI: Pakistan and Turkey have reaffirmed the commitment to forge deeper strategic ties.

This understanding came during a meeting between Chief of General Staff Turkish Armed Forces General Yasar Guler and Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Nadeem Raza in Rawalpindi.

Besides security and regional issues, particularly the latest developments in Afghanistan, matters relating to enhancing the level and scope of bilateral military engagements and cooperation were discussed.

On March 22, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) had signed the Charter of Humanitarian Trust Fund for Afghanistan to raise donations for the people of the country suffering a humanitarian crisis.

OIC Secretay-General Hissein Brahim Taha and President IsDB Muhammad Sulaiman Al Jasser inked the charter witnessed by Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi.

The creation of the Fund was mandated by the 17th Extraordinary Session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers held in Islamabad on December 19, 2021.

Speaking on the occasion, Shah Mahmood Qureshi had said under the aegis of Islamic Development Bank, the platform of OIC member countries would provide humanitarian assistance to the people of Afghanistan who had been facing conflict for decades.
