KARACHI: Sindh Senior Superintendent of Police Omar Shahid Hamid has denied allegations that independent candidate Jibran Nasir’s election camps were tampered with.

Nasir had alleged that five of his election camps in Delhi colony, Chandio village, Defence and Hijrat colony had been torn down by Tehreek-e-Labbaik (TLP) supporters.

According to Hamid, Nasir’s claims were investigated by area Station House Officers and no such incident had occurred in any location.

“In three places Jibran Nasir’s camps were empty due to absence of volunteers and two of the places—Chandio village and Delhi colony—were untouched,” said Hamid.

Police accuse Jibran Nasir of seeking public sympathy before elections

“The police are there for the security of all citizens and today’s events in Quetta underline how serious the security threat is. It is requested that candidates refrain from making false claims as precious resources are diverted into investigating such frivolous claims,” he added further.

Nasir had taken to Twitter early Wednesday morning alleging that TLP workers were ripping off banners from his facilitation camps.
