Khunjrab-Rawalpindi optical fiber project status

GILGIT: (APP) Work on the Optical Fiber Project of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has been started in Khunjrab area.

The task of the project to lay 820 km long cable between Rawalpindi and Khunjrab has been given to Special Communication Organization (SCO), which will be completed in 18 months.

Total cast of this project is $ 44 million and it will become another high speed international connection to cater the rapidly growing internet traffic needs of Pakistan.

SCO's spokesperson told APP that in second phase work on Rawalpindi to Gwadar optical fiber will be initiated.

Mir Alam a local, said that Pak-China Optical Fiber has much importance on national and international level, yet this project brought job opportunity for local people too.
