A keel laying ceremony of the first Hangor class submarine that was builtin Pakistan and the steel cutting ceremony of the second submarine wereheld at the Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works.
According to the Pak Navy spokesperson, Chief of the Naval Staff AdmiralMuhammad Amjad Khan Niazi was the chief guest of the ceremony.
Hangor class submarines are equipped with the advanced weapons andtechnology.
Speaking on the occasion, the Navy Chief said that the induction ofsubmarines will further strengthen the maritime defense capabilities of thePakistan Navy, adding that the construction of Hangor class submarines willboost local shipbuilding industry and self-reliance.
