India, Iran and Afghanistan hold important meeting on Chabahar Port

TEHRAN – Chabahar port has a key role in development of economic andpolitical relations among the regional states, Deepak Mittal, an officialaffiliated to India’s Foreign Ministry told the Islamic Republic NewsAgency (IRNA).

Chabahar is a good point of entry among Iran, India, Afghanistan and thecountries in Central Asia, he noted.

The first meeting of the follow-up committee for the implementation ofChabahar Agreement between Iran, Afghanistan, and India was held in Iran’ssoutheastern port city of Chabahar on Monday with the attendance ofdelegations from the three nations.

Following the meeting of the transport officials of the three countrieswhich took place in Iran’s capital of Tehran in November, today’s meetingsaw the discussion of customs tariff, promoting customs transactions andrail transit, and the transportation process.

The Chabahar Agreement was signed in June 2015 and was later approved byIran’s Guardian Council in November 2016.
