Economic Advisory Council meeting: Key decisions taken

ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Imran Khan has approved the policyrecommendations for a Medium Term Structural Reform Framework of theeconomy.

He gave the approval while chairing a meeting of the Economic AdvisoryCouncil in Islamabad today (Sunday).

The meeting also approved a Social Protection Framework to ensure thatvulnerable segments of society are protected.

The comprehensive framework aims at overcoming the challenges of poverty,health, stunted growth, education and enabling the youth realize theirpotential and extricate themselves out of generational poverty traps.

The policy recommendations focused on acceleration of under utilised areasincluding Agriculture, Housing, Small & Medium Enterprises in terms ofincentives, reliance on export oriented and labour intensive growth,reversal of anti-export bias, enhanced system automation and use oftechnology, transparency in trade regime, facilitating importers, jobcreation through skill development, ease of doing business through businessfriendly environment while focusing on productivity and moving ontechnology sophistication.

Finalization of these policies is for laying the foundation of asustainable, inclusive, job creating and export oriented economic growthstrategy as part of the Government’s 100 Days Plan.
