After the national team’s loss against Afghanistan in the World Cup, formercricketers and cricket enthusiasts have started to criticize the team. Inthe World Cup, Pakistan has played five matches, with two victories andthree losses.
The Green Shirts will play their next match against South Africa onFriday. Cricket analysts are also voicing criticism of the national teamfollowing the loss to Afghanistan.
Analyst Nauman Niaz mentioned that there were several talented players whowere not included in the team. Shadab Khan and Usama Mir are spin bowlerswho specialize in T20 cricket. He stated that they prioritized Shadab Khanfor friendship’s sake, but he has not performed well in One DayInternationals due to his lack of experience in First-Class cricket and, consequently, in Test cricket.
Nauman Niaz pointed out that this situation is similar to Haris Rauf’scase. They did not include their talented spinner, Abrar Ahmed, in thefifteen-member squad, fearing that if Shadab Khan’s performance was not upto the mark, they would need to bring Abrar into the final eleven.
He also mentioned that the planning seems to be flawed since players likeAbdullah Shafique and Saud Shakeel were not part of the plan, and they areperforming well now.
